The Choice is Yours

Colossians 3:11 ~ 17

How do you look at life?  The way you see life is based upon the attitude of your heart.  God says that we can make a choice to live in thankfulness.  The way to that is to let the love of God fill you and overflow in your life.

1. In Christ all are equal

   a. past heritage unimportant/ male nor female

   b. new birth by the Spirit is what counts

2. God wants to display His love through His children/ church

   a. clothe yourselves, list of ways to treat others in vs. 12

3. Forgiveness is act of will not an emotion

   a. bear with each other~ put up w/their weird behavior

   b. grievance doesn’t matter forgiveness for you not them

   c. God forgave us still in sin to end separation on His part

   c. Jesus our example learn & practice His behavior

4. Make your choice a life of love

   a. I Corinthians 16:14 Do everything in love

   b. Gal. 5:6 only thing that counts is faith  expressed in love

5. let the peace of God rule in your life

   a. a choice not passive not the road of least resistance

   b. let word dwell in you, active knowledge & understanding

   c. share what God gives you, psalms, hymns, spiritual songs

   d. happy, joyful from the overflow of love & thanksgiving

This is all about Jesus.  Everything we do we are to do in His name, everything.  It is to be done with a heart filled with gratitude and thanksgiving because of Jesus forgiveness of us.  Because of a thankful heart we can do everything in love, just as the word of Christ commands us.  Choosing to live a life of love comes from a heart that overflows with thanksgiving.
