Promise

The value of a promise depends upon the character of the one giving the promise.  God has promised can trust Him.   Whether you trust the promises of God or not doesn’t change the validity of His promises

1. Genesis 3:15 is a promise of God

    A. it is the promise of a Messiah coming

    B. how you respond to the Messiah has eternal consequences

2. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that He should lie

   a. When God promises He will fulfill it

   b. God’s word is important to Him He will not violate it

3. Sometimes we fail to understand what God promises

   b. In Deut. chapter 27 – 30 are blessings & cursing

   C. these are the opposite sides of the same promise

   D. about serving & obeying God, sowing & reaping

4. God will fulfill His promise

   A. how you receive the promise is up to you

   B. you can choose death or you can choose life

   C. you choose death when you reject the Messiah

5. Israel did not believe the promise of God

   a. God promised them a prosperous land

   b. 10 scouts brought back a bad report

6. Years later in Bethlehem God revealed more of His promise

  A. a baby was born the Messiah / Jesus

  b. It is His birth we celebrate at this time of yr.

  C. again Israel ignored the promise and rejected God

7. Galatians 3:22 the promise is of faith

  a. II Peter 3:9 God wants all to come to Him by faith

  B. the promise of full acceptance is there thru Jesus

Trust God His word never fails.  If God said it believe it, act upon it.  God promised a Messiah would come. From the manger to the cross Jesus fulfilled the promise.  There is more to the promise; Jesus is going to return as a mighty warrior to destroy His enemies.  Which part of the promise are you following the one that leads to God or rejects Him?  If you are on the wrong road you can always change & choose life in Jesus Christ
