Genesis 2:21-25

Purity in Marriage

Marriage is a very misunderstood institution in our society today.  Some struggle to know the truth others do everything they can to hide the truth.  God places a very high value on marriage and we should as well.  Marriage is for the saved and the unsaved.  It only works properly when God’s principles are followed.

1. God took a rib from Adam and made a woman

  a. the woman is of the same flesh and same bone

  b. God having made the woman out of the flesh of Adam then returns the woman to him

  c. God did not make 2 women out of the rib nor did He make another man

  d. God is showing us that marriage is the union of one man and one women period

  2. the teachings today of alternative lifestyles is a lie from the father of lies Satan

  a. The sexual relationship belongs only in the marriage of 1 man & 1 woman

  b. the term sexual orientation is a cover for willful rejection of God’s teaching

  c. by changing the words people seek to make legitimate their sin

  d. an affair is still adultery with a different wrapper-this week I heard a different term for adultery called mate poaching – it is still sin

  e. casual or recreational sex is still fornication & still sin

3.  Leviticus 18 is a long list of unlawful sexual relations look at vs. 27 – 30

  a. not only is the person defiled but the land as well

  b, when these types of practices become acceptable the curse comes upon the land

  c. Romans 8: 19 – 22 the land wants to be free from the curse & sin magnifies the curse

  d. do you know why Sodom was destroyed, the sexual sins sort of

  e. there weren’t enough righteous ones to hold back the curse

  f. you are that remnant of righteousness that keeps the curse from taking effect

  g. after the church is taken out in the rapture there will be no remnant to hold back the curse

4.Romans 1:24-28 they did not want to retain the knowledge of God

  a. you can not focus upon God and commit sexual sin

  b. King David planned his sexual sin as does everyone else he could have gone back inside instead of looking at Bathsheba

  b. you cannot give glory to God and climb into bed with someone you’re not married to

  c. you can’t look at or read  pornography and hold within you a vision of God

  d. God is very much a gentleman if you don’t want Him in your thoughts He will not force Himself upon you

  c. this is why sexual sin is so dangerous and Satan uses it so much

5. Some today want to look at marriage as an appendage to their lives

   a. this is totally wrong, marriage is not something else you do

   b. marriage is not like a hobby that you enjoy doing when you have time

   c. you are not to have your life separate from your spouse

6. the intimate relationship of a husband and wife is to strengthen the marriage

  b. it aids in the merging of the 2 lives physically & emotionally

  c. as God says you become one flesh

Sin destroyed our relationship with God.  Sin destroys marriages every day. Sexual sins don’t just happen they are planned. For a marriage to function properly it must be done Gods way. You must plan for purity in marriage and commit to following through.  The cross of Jesus Christ is sufficient to cleanse us from all sin.  King David spent a year in pain and misery because he wouldn’t face the sin.  No matter what the sin we can take it to the cross and leave it there.  Our relationship with our spouse and with our God is too important not to.
