Light

It was a dark and stormy night. The lighting flashed and an eerie scene appeared.  We sought the darkness to cover us.  The flashes of light revealed things too horrible to think about. This sounds like a great mystery novel.  Unfortunately it is not fiction but real life, the life of one who is without faith in Jesus.

1. In Genesis we read that God created light and it was good

   a.  the light was for us for all time that we might see

   b. in the 3^rd chapter sin entered the world bringing darkness

   c. darkness covered the land & people failed to see the truth

2. I John 1:5 God is light

   a. God wants you to know Him so He sent flashes of light

   b. God sent prophets to proclaim the light, then came the law

   c. the law was a shadow of the true light & people trembled at sight

3. Matthew 4:16 those living in darkness have seen a great light

   a. God sent the full revelation of His light to stable in Beth.

   b. Jesus is the light which shines into darkness of our souls

   d. Jesus the light of the world follow Him to have that light

4. II Corinthians 4:4 god of this age blinded eyes of unbelievers

   a. the glimpses of light seen by unbelievers is terrifying

   b. they do not see clearly nor do they understand

5. how can unbelievers see clearly w/ so much against them

   a. Matthew 5:14 Jesus says you are the light of the world

   b. belief in Jesus takes us out of darkness into light

   c. as believers the light of Christ shines through us

6. Matthew 6:22&23 eyes are lamp of body

   a. what you see controls light within you

   b. as unbelievers see the light radiating from you they are drawn to it

   c. the clearer and brighter the light the more others will find their way thru you

7.  what are you doing with the light of Christ that is in you

   a. are you hiding it so no one can see

   b. is the light of Christ brightly burning for all to see

8. I have heard all my life let my light shine what does it mean

   a. 1^st learn to love as Jesus does

   b. 2^nd be totally committed  not ? hearted or in the mood

We sing songs about the light, Jesus, who came as a baby. Jesus didn’t stay as a baby.  He came to give us that light.  We are the light cavalry of God.  Our mission is to destroy the deeds of darkness by letting the light of truth shine upon them.  Walk in the light even as Jesus is in the light. Luke 2:9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified.  Let the light of the glory of God shine through you even as it shown on the day of Jesus birth. It is time to enter the battle.
