Visions and Dreams

Genesis 37:2-11

1.  What will this new year bring?  

    a. People w/out faith or hope are anxious about future

    b. consult crystal ball, horoscope, tarot cards, Ouija boards  

    c. Deuteronomy 18: 9 – 13 God’s opinion abomination

2. We have the message of faith and hope

    a. Haggai 2:2 like a billboard 50 mph

    b. relatives had a vision & built building

    c. vision does not = mission

    d. visions & dreams are steps to mission of discipling

3. At 17 Joseph received 2 dreams from God

    a. vision of the future he held on to even as a slave

   b. he knew what God had said would happen

4.  God is not a respecter of persons

   a. what He has done for one will do for another

   b. visions & dreams are not for the select few

   c. Acts 2 or Joel dreams & visions part of being Christian

   d. what dream/vision has God given to you, 1^st Church

5. Joseph immature didn’t handle dream right

   a. people & churches can yield to pride & arrogance

   b. conflict comes & we think God only spoke to you/me

   c. we need the vision of each other to see whole

   e. abide in Christ, walk in Spirit to recognize vision

6. God thinks differently than you & I do

  a. God gives us glimpses of tomorrow, dreams & visions

  b. this builds our faith, hope & trust to get thru rough times

  c. pro golfer w/mideast king, reject then accept kings gift, engraved gold putter w/diamonds, registered letter

God is our King. He thinks differently over your life than you do.  Why do you settle for just part of the vision? Don’t worship the vision worship God.  Focus on the mission.  Open your eyes look upon the horizon for God has great things in store for you for 1^st Church.  But know this, it will not be done by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.  As we abide in the Spirit the vision of God will be accomplished by God through us.  Are you ready?
